Beautiful ceiling in the Shah Mosque (Masjed-e Shah), Naghsh-i Jahan square, Isfahan, Iran

This weeks photograph is from Iran and is a shot of one of the stunningly beautiful ceilings in the Shah Mosque (Masjed-e Shah)… and this isn’t even the main dome. The Shah Mosque can be found in the corner of Naqsh-e Jahan Square square in Isfahan.

As with many of the mosques of Iran this is a stunning example of Islamic / Persian architecture and was built during the Safavid period.
