Photo of the week: Making your presence felt in Patan

This photograph was taken in Patan in India.

A woman and young girl walked by and I was amazed by the amount of dried dung they were carrying on their heads. I think that is what is was… presumably for use as fuel. They were quite friendly and let me take some photographs.

There were some young boys nearby and they seemed to know the woman and the girl and they wanted to get in on the act too.

One boy decided to make his presence felt by attempting to push the girl to make her drop the heavy load on her head. In doing so he just crept into one of my shots… to her credit the little girl did not drop the dung. As for the lad well, rather than spoil the shot, I think he made it more interesting… what do you think?
