Photo of the week: Practicing for Kyrgyz Independence Day

Photo of the week – every picture tells a story…

This week my ‘photo of the week’ is from Kyrgyzstan and was taken whilst wandering around the town of Karakol. I stumbled upon these girls dancing – I think they were cleaners judging by the way they were dressed, but I’m not really sure… what were they doing?

Well it was August and the day before Kyrgyz Independence Day when the country celebrates the anniversary of its independence from the Soviet Union. They were practicing a routine – you can see flags on the ground in front of them.
